DISCIPLESHIP PASTOR
Job Description
Provide leadership and encouragement to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to get plugged into the Church body until they reach spiritual maturity.
Qualifications:
- Born again Christian who feels a call by God into ministry
- Degree from an Independent Christian Church College
- Positive relational skills are required.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to build and lead volunteer teams
Accountable to Elders
Be the First Line of Connection to the Church
1. Help secure and train greeters with the team leader.
2. Ensure guests receive follow-up after their visit.
3. Develop further ways to welcome guests and connect with them.
Lead and Develop a Discipleship Path for People
1. Evaluate the needs of our congregation and its individuals.
2. Further development of a comprehensive discipleship plan.
3. Train leaders for these various small groups
4. Acquire needed materials for groups.
Assist in the Area of our Ministry Teams.
1. Help teach part of the Membership Class
2. Help with follow-up to the membership class – enlisting people in ministry.
3. Recruit and train leaders as needed.
Work the Elders in the Area of Shepherding for our Members.
1. Help track people’s attendance and follow up with people missing for extended periods. Continually relaying information to our elders.
2. Learn required software programs and use as needed.
3. Hospital visits and nursing home as needed.
4. Perform and/or help with funerals as needed.
General Ministry Responsibilities
1. Develop personal walk with Jesus.
2. Attend regular staff meetings and monthly leadership meetings.
3. Preach in Minister’s absence or secure a preacher for those Sundays.
4. Assist preacher in development of future plans.
5. Offer minimal counseling and refer to alternative assistance.
6. Assist in further development of Policy manual for optimum performance.
7. Maintain a servant’s heart and assist where needed when it is required.
